San Diego, CA – (December 17, 2010) – DEMA Show 2010, the largest trade-only show in the diving and watersports industries took place in Las Vegas Nevada, from November 17-20 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.  More than 540 Exhibitors showcased their products and services at this year’s show, and over 9,700 industry professionals registered, including buyers, travel buyers, instructors and other diving professionals.  DEMA has completed the show wrap-up and has unveiled the show statistics below.  The comparative statistics from 2005 to 2010 will help members in understanding their own results from the important industry event.

DEMA Members and dive professionals filled the Show floor and seminar rooms, networking face-to-face, learning about new travel destinations, checking out the latest gear, conducting business and taking advantage of the educational opportunities presented to improve their business.  DEMA Show 2010 showcased 30 DEMA-Sponsored Educational Sessions and 19 Image Resource Center Sessions while 65 exhibitors offered over 300 Exhibitor-Sponsored Seminars.

On the evening of November 19, the industry gathered for the 2010 DEMA Awards Party.  “Now That’s Entertainment,” was the theme and guests sported hats that represented their personality.  Highlights of the party included the presentation of the 22nd Annual DEMA Reaching Out Awards to Dr. A. José Jones and Mr. Chuck Nicklin for their outstanding and continuous contributions to the industry. 

To show support of this year’s host city DEMA Show gave back to the Las Vegas community with their “Dive Industry Gives Back” campaign.  Two DEMA representatives dressed up in turkey costumes during the show and collected contributions from exhibitors/attendees, which were donated to one of the largest food banks in Southern Nevada.  Over $1,000 was raised and DEMA presented the Three Square Food Bank with the check on November 20th at the Scuba Demonstration Pool.

DEMA Show 2010 and scuba diving were showcased throughout DEMA Show week on top Las Vegas news stations KVVU-Fox 5 News and KSNV-TV NBC Morning News.  Both segments highlighted DEMA Show 2010, the new products showcased in 2010 and the Be A Diver campaign.  This means that thousands of viewers were given the chance to see diving products and services directly from DEMA Show.

DEMA Show 2011, the 35th annual DEMA Show, will take place November 2-5, 2011 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL.
