American Airlines Ads Featuring the Island are the Key to Enter to Win on Twitter
Basseterre, St. Kitts – To leverage the co-op ad campaign with American Airlines that’s currently running in New York City, St. Kitts is launching The St. Kitts “Picture Your Present” Twitter photo sweepstakes for the holiday season.
From now through December 25, 2011, anyone who would like to enter the sweepstakes must take a photo of one of the ads currently on display in Manhattan (including themself in the photo is encouraged), post it to Twitter with a tag to @StKittsTourism and state what is special about St. Kitts that makes that person want to win. Those who can’t get to Manhattan to snap a photo of one of the ads can still enter to win by utilizing one of the three photos of the ads posted at http://twitpic.com/photos/StKittsTourism in their Tweet instead. The winner of the sweepstakes will receive two round trip coach class tickets to St. Kitts on American Airlines plus a five-day/four-night stay for two at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort & Royal Beach Casino - the ultimate holiday present for anyone who loves to travel.
“American Airlines’ has provided St. Kitts with an excellent marketing platform with this co-op campaign,” said Senator Ricky Skerritt, Minister of Tourism & International Transport and Chairman of the Council of Minister for the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO). “To boost awareness and engagement for St. Kitts and simultaneously highlight American as a premier carrier serving the destination, we decided to leverage the ads in a fun photo contest that would also drive traffic to our website and social media accounts. As Twitter has evolved into an information network rather than a social network, we chose this as the optimum medium to broadcast our message.”
The stationary ads appear in Midtown and the Financial District of Manhattan on: a newsstand located at 23rd Street and Park Avenue South; phone kiosks located at 23rd Street and Third Avenue, 46th Street and Lexington Avenue, 8th Avenue and West 45th Street, Lexington Avenue and East 40th Street and 9th Avenue and 57th Street; and subway panels located at 25th Street and 8th Avenue and 50th Street and Broadway as well as on 84 taxi tops and a double-decker bus that travels through the city. The posting of duplicate or near duplicate Tweets is strongly discouraged, and anyone who is found to use multiple Twitter accounts for the sole purpose of entering may be automatically disqualified. The sweepstakes is open to residents of the 48 continental US states who are 18 or over. Winner selection will be via random drawing on January 2, 2012, with winner notification via Twitter the same day. Complete rules and regulations are listed at http://www.stkittstourism.kn/nycphoto-sweepstakesrules.php.
St. Kitts was named a top destination for 2011 by both AOL Travel and British Airways, and has just been named one of the “Top 12 Spots that should be on your list for 2012” by Caribbean Travel + Life magazine. It also ranked #1 (along with Nevis) on a list of the 16 Best Caribbean Vacations by US News & World Report. Located in the northern Leeward Islands of the Caribbean, St. Kitts offers a diverse tourism product developed from the destination’s natural beauty, cultural heritage and rich history. The island’s stunning variety of tourism attractions include hiking through the tropical rainforest, riding the scenic railway that connects the island’s former sugar plantations, visiting the Caribelle Batik factory, touring Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park, the only man-made UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Eastern Caribbean, and the more traditional vacation pastimes such as watersports, golf, shopping, tennis, gourmet dining, gaming at one of St. Kitts’ two casinos or simply relaxing on one of the island’s sandy beaches. Accommodations range from intimate plantation inns to larger hotels or resorts.
